Dr. Pyle traveled to Chile recently (February 2025) to research a sequel to his novel, Magdalena Mountain. The first book involves an all-black butterfly called the Magdalena Alpine, which much affects the plot of the High Rockies tale. The sequel, The Silver Satyr, also calls upon a butterfly to moderate the action, which this time takes place in the High Andes. Here is that stunning butterfly, all silver above, caught, examined, and released unharmed; and Dr. Pyle with his field companion, César Fuentes Carvajal, at the wild and spectacular Embalse El Yeso.
